Gedeeld Panorama is een video-installatie voor twaalf monitoren en twaalf players. De monitoren staan op een ring (diameter 3.50 m.), die op 6 kolommen (h 1.75 m.) rust. De video-opnamen laten de cartografische horizon van het panorama-schilderij van H.W. Mesdag zien, opgenomen vanuit een vliegtuig, dat exact deze lijn volgt.
Door verschillende cameraposities (verticaal: de camera hangt loodrecht naar beneden onder het vliegtuig, horizontaal: de camera is op het middelpunt van de cirkel gericht en centraal: de camera maakt met het vliegtuig een pan van 360') ontstaan nieuwe panorama's.
Naast deze luchtopnamen zijn er beelden te zien, gemaakt vanuit de cartografische cirkel op de grond. In de montage worden al deze opnamen aan elkaar gekoppeld, zodat er 50 minuten (de vliegtijd) lang verschillende panorama's aan het oog van de toeschouwer voorbijtrekken.
Description
Gedeeld Panorama (Divided Panorama) is a video installation for twelve monitors and twelve players. The monitors stand on a ring (diameter 3.50 m.), which is supported on 6 columns (height 1.75 m.). The video images consist of views of the cartographic horizon of the panoramic painting by H.W. Mesdag, recorded from a plane which followed the exact route of that horizon.
By using different camera positions (vertical: the camera pointing straight down underneath the plane, horizontal. the camera pointed towards the centre of the circle, central the camera pans through 360', with the plane), new panoramas are created.
Besides these aerial shots, there are images of views taken outwards from the cartographis circle on the ground. All this recorded material is edited together, so that in the final tape, panoramic views pass before the viewer for a period of 50 minutes (equal to the flight time).
